Cook, Elmina A. Potter ----The community was shocked today to hear of the sudden death of Mrs.  A. A. Cook, which occurred at the family home on west First street last evening.

Mrs. Cook has been suffering from rheumatic trouble for the last twenty years, but aside from this, was as well as usual when Mr. Cook went home to dinner yesterday, and after the meal she insisted on going to the office with him, which was her daily custom.  However, while she was getting ready she was stricken with apoplexy. Mr. Cook assisted her to the couch and immediately called a doctor. She was conscious and apparently in good spirits until about 6 o'clock in the evening, when she became unconscious, and very peacefully passed away at a quarter before 9 o'clock last night.

Elmina A. Potter, daughter of Mr.  and Mrs. A. M. Potter, pioneer settlers of this city, was born In Forrestville, New York, June 21, 1844,  moving to Clayton county, Iowa, in 1861. Three years later the family moved to Cedar Falls, where they lived one year. They came to Webster City in 1865 and the following spring, on May 21, 1866, she was married to A. A. Cook. Since that time they have made their home in Webster City.

To Mr. and Mrs. Cook were born five children-Mrs. Fred Taylor of Seattle, Washington; Mrs.  N. L. Hotchkiss of Eldora, Iowa; Berdella E., who died at the age of five years; Mrs. Fred Webb, of Wichita, Kansas, and D. Orville Cook of St. Paul, Minn. Besides the children and husband. Mrs. Cook leaves a brother, A. M. Potter of this city, and two sisters, Mrs. E. R. Lee of this city, and Mrs. E. W. Olds of Kimonia, Cal.

Mrs. Cook was a member of the Methodist church all her life and an exemplary wife, mother and Christian woman. She has been a prominent member of and held various offices in the Woman's Relief Corps for the past twelve or fifteen years.  Owing to her long residence in this city, she had an unusually large acquaintance and her sudden death will bring genuine sorrow to all who knew her.

The funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home, Rev. C. H. Kamphoefner officiating. Webster City Freeman January 4, 1916
